This course is designed to extend and refine the assessment skills of the Registered Nurse in preparation for an advanced clinical practice. The student will complete a 45 hour clinical practicum to learn to perform physical, developmental, mental, emotional, cultural, social, and family assessments. Students are required to take Nursing 5220 Advanced Health Assessment either concurrently or as a prerequisite.

PNP Acute Care Advanced Diagnostics and Skills (0.5-1.5-0) This graduate level nursing course focuses on the development of evidence-based clinical reasoning to select the appropriate diagnostic tests based upon patient presentation in the acute and critical care settings. Pediatric Acute Care (2-0-0) This graduate level nursing course is a continuation of Acute Care IA to further focus on the assessment, diagnosis and evidence-based management of stable acute, and chronic health conditions of pediatric patients and their families in various acute care settings.
Pediatric Acute Care IIA (2-0-0) This graduate level nursing course focuses to enhance the student's knowledge on the assessment, diagnosis and evidence-based management of the intermediate complex acute and chronic health conditions of pediatrics patients and their families in various acute care settings.
Pediatric Acute Care IIB (2-0-0) This graduate level nursing course is the final course for the student to accumulate knowledge on the assessment, diagnosis and evidence-based management of complex intermediate, critical, and chronic health conditions of pediatric patients and their families in various acute care settings.
Pediatric Acute Care IA Practicum (0-0-6) This graduate level nursing course is the first in a series of six practicum courses for those preparing to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care. With the guidance and supervision of a preceptor, students provide direct care and begin to learn to manage and formulate a plan of care for stable pediatric patients with acute and chronic illness within a variety of clinical settings. Students will also develop a plan of care for these children in context of family, environment and culture. A minimum of 90 hours of supervised, direct patient care are required to demonstrate competency.
Pediatric Acute Care IB Practicum (0-0-6) This graduate level nursing course is the second in a series of six practicum courses for those preparing to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care. With the guidance and supervision of a preceptor, students provide direct care and begin to learn to manage and formulate a plan of care for stable pediatric patients with acute and chronic illnesses within a variety of clinical settings. Students will develop plan of care for these children in context of family, environment and culture. A minimum of 90 hours of supervised, direct patient care are required to demonstrate competency.
Neuroscience across the Lifespan: This graduate level course is designed to present the theoretical basis for anatomical, biological, and psychological aspects in psychiatric mental health disorders across the lifespan. The physiology of the brain and nervous system, genetics and epigenetics will be examined.
This course is designed to extend and refine the assessment skills of the Registered Nurse in preparation for an advanced clinical practice. The student will learn to perform physical, developmental, mental, emotional, cultural, social, and family assessments. Students will review anatomy and physiology related to each biological system being studied. The course emphasizes in-depth techniques for assessing each body system in individuals throughout the life span. Material will focus on the use of a variety of health assessment techniques including history taking skills, physical assessment, and other diagnostic assessment tools. Students are required to take Nursing 5121 Advanced Assessment Practicum (45 hours) either concurrently or upon completion of this course.
Pediatric Acute Care IIA Practicum (0-0-6) This graduate level nursing course is the third in a series of six practicum courses for those preparing to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care. With the guidance and supervision of a preceptor, emphasis is on continued development of advanced clinical skills, exploring evidence- based research and their application to the plan of care for pediatric patients in the acute and chronic intermediate healthcare settings, within the context of family, environment and culture. A minimum of 90 hours of supervised , direct patient care are required to demonstrate competency .
Pediatric Acute Care IIB (0-0-6) This graduate level nursing course is the fourth in a series of six practicum courses for those preparing to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care. With the guidance and supervision of a preceptor, emphasis is on continued development of advanced clinical skills, exploring evidence- based research and their application to the plan of care for pediatric patients in the acute and chronic intermediate and critical care healthcare settings, such as Specialty Clinics , Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Room, General hospital units and Pediatric Intensive Unit within the context.
This 7 week course will build on didactic principles in Adult & Geriatric Health I to utilize acute and chronic illness management to optimize health of adults and geriatric adults. The course will address health promotion, disease prevention practices, patient-focused optimization of health, and end of life care for selected disease states. Emphasis is on the management of common acute and chronic conditions in adults and geriatric adults. Co-requisite with N5224.

Acute and Critical Illness Practicum I: The 7 week clinical course applies didactic content from concurrent N5329 for 90 clinical practicum hours and simulation, focusing on stabilization of adults with acute or traumatic health conditions and exacerbations of complex chronic illness. Participants formulate a plan of care and implement interventions to support the patient with a rapid deterioration in physiologic conditions, including the application of basic and advanced life support and other strategies or invasive procedures to regain physiologic stability. Application of these principles will occur in the clinical practicum.
Acute and Critical Illness II: The 7 week course will build on content of Acute & Critical Illness I focusing on stabilization of adults with acute or traumatic health conditions and exacerbations of complex, chronic illness. Participants develop theoretical knowledge of processes in adults and geriatric adults that include normal physiology, pathophysiologic derangement and other selected pathologies, age-related changes, assessment, diagnosis, and management of acute, critical, and exacerbation of chronic disease states. In addition, participants anticipate and explore patient and family response to life support strategies.
Acute and Critical Illness Practicum II: The 7 week clinical course applies didactic content from concurrent N5226 for 90 clinical hours focusing on stabilization of adults with acute or traumatic health conditions and exacerbations of complex, chronic illness. Participants formulate a plan of care and implement interventions to support the patient with a rapid deterioration in physiologic conditions, including the application of basic and advanced life support and other strategies or invasive procedures to regain physiologic stability. Application of these principles will occur in the clinical and simulated environments.
This graduate level nursing course focuses on the development of skills essential to advanced practice nursing. Based on best-practice models, participants determine when and how to implement skills and evaluate outcome.
This course is designed to assist students in the development of evidence-based diagnostic and clinical decision making techniques. Through the use of case studies students will utilize evidence-based approaches to derive diagnoses and treatments.

Acute and Critical Illness I: The 7 week course focuses on stabilization of adults with acute or traumatic health conditions and exacerbations of complex chronic illness.
