Emphasis is placed on drug classifications and nursing implications related to the safe administration of medication to patients across the lifespan. Performing dosage calculations using various methods are introduced.

NURS 3300.  Mental Behavioral Health Nurs.  

Mental Behavioral Health Nursing This course focuses on the care of patients across the lifespan experiencing cognitive, mental and beahvioral disorders. Emphasis is placed on management of patients facing emotional and psychological stressors as well as promoting and maintaining the mental health of individuals and families. Concepts of crisis intervention, therapeutic communication, anger management, and coping skills are integrated throughout the course. Community-based care and support services are addressed. Clinical experiences provide the student an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and implement safe patient care to patients in selected mental health settings. Adult Health Nursing I This course focuses on th ecare of adult and older partients with health alterations that require medical and/or surgical intervention. Emphasis is placed on the care of patients with alterations in selected body systems: endocrine, immune /hematology, integumentary, gastrointestinal, musculeskeletal, and reproductive. Fluid, electrolytes, oncology, and perioperative concepts are addressed. Concepts of patient centered care, cultural sensitivity, informatics, safe practice, and professionalism are integrated throughout the course. NURS 4612.  Acute Care Practicum.  

Acute Care Practicum (2-12-0) This is course is a culminating experience in which the student applies theory to clinical practice. The student will plan, manage, coordinate and provide nursing care for a group of clients in the acute care setting, demonstrating the Board of Nurse Examiners (BNE) entry level compentencies. NURS 4714.  Adult Health Nursing II.  

Adult Health Nursing II This course focuses on the care of adult and older adult patients with complex medical and/or surgical health alterations. Emphasis is placed on the nursing care of patients with alterations in selected body systems: cardiovascular, respiratory, renal/urinary, and neurosensory . Management of acid-base disorders, toxic ingestions, and hemodynamic monitoring will also be addressed. Concepts of health promotion, health education, evidence-based practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration, patient centered care, cultural sensitivity, informatics, safe practice, and professionalism will be integrated throughout the course. Clinical experiences provide the student an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and implement safe care to patients and selected groups in a variety of settings.
