Graduate Certificate in Teaching History

Prerequisite: Admission to the Graduate Program in History

The Certificate in History consists of 18 credit hours of graduate courses in History. To be eligible to teach dual-credit courses (i.e., courses that offer credit for both high school and college simultaneously), teachers must have either 18 credit hours of graduate work in History and a master’s degree in another discipline or an MA in History. Students must receive a B or better in all courses that count toward the Certificate. 

Requirements for the Certificate include:

HIST 5320Readings in US History to 18653
HIST 5322Readings in US Hist Since 18653
nine (9) hours of graduate studies courses in History9
three (3) hours of a graduate seminar in History3
Total Hours18

Credit earned for the Certificate can be counted towards the MA in History.
