Graduate Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The mission of this program is to support graduate students in the College of Engineering, College of Science and the College of Business Administration who have interest in the development and exploitation of inventions, for both commercial and non-commercial purposes.

Admission Requirements 

  • A bachelor's degree from UTEP's College of Engineering, College of Business Administration, or College of Science, or an equivalent degree from a similarly accredited college or university. Graduate students in good standing in UTEP's College of Engineering, College of Business Administration, or College of Science are eligible.
  • A 3.0 cumulative undergraduate grade point average.

Required Courses

The total number of hours required for the certificate is 15. Students will be required to complete the five courses listed below.

Note 1. Available electives include courses offered (a) by the College of Engineering, such as CS 5380 Intellectual Property Law and CE 5382 Cost Analysis, (b) by the College of Business Administration,
such as MGMT 5314 Corporate Entrepreneurship, and (c) other appropriate graduate courses in Engineering and Business Administration, subject to program approval.
